SPECIAL GUESTS ’26

A quick introduction to our special guests this year, in order of appearance…

Jeff Kaiser is a musician, technologist, trumpet player, scholar, composer, and conductor who creates interactive performances blending acoustic instruments with custom software, generative systems, and live electronics. Rooted in experimental jazz, improvisation, and contemporary composition, his work explores the sonic possibilities of combining traditional instruments with new technologies while engaging space and audience as active participants. Kaiser has performed and presented worldwide, from Europe and Asia to the Americas, and leads ensembles including the twenty-plus piece Jeff Kaiser Ockodektet. A tireless promoter of experimental music, he founded the pfMENTUM label, co-directs the MOXsonic Festival, and develops innovative tools for live performance and improvisation. Kaiser is an Associate Professor of Music Technology and Composition at the University of Central Missouri. For more information: jeffkaiser.com

Eternal Research is an electronic instrument design studio dedicated to revealing the hidden music in everyday objects and providing synesthetic audiovisual tools to creators. It’s a small but growing team of artists across various disciplines in music, arts, and performance. Eternal Research combines an experimental philosophy with technical knowledge to provide creators a unique multidisciplinary and synesthetic tool. Understanding the symbiotic relationship between art and technology, Eternal Research’s products reflect an alchemy for the 21st century, channeling overlooked and untapped electromagnetic forces to the hands of artists and musicians.

Founders Alexandra Fierra and Bryn Nieboer built the Demon Box through a development process going back nearly a decade. Marking improvements year after year, the Demon Box’s evolution weathered both personal trials of its creators and global forces that shaped supply chains. A successful Kickstarter campaign in the fall of 2024 launched the official manufacturing phase with units due to be delivered at the beginning of 2026. In the intervening months, Eternal Research has attended over twenty events in the U.S. and Europe where demonstrations of the Demon Box’s capabilities have captivated attendees and garnered support across a wide demographic of creators in the music industry and beyond.

ABOUT THE DEMON BOX

The Demon Box is a multi faceted electronic instrument, device controller, and listening apparatus that turns electromagnetic fields into audio & data. The Demon Box has 33 inductors that interact with EMF emitted from devices like drills, portable radios, and magnets. From these signals, the Demon Box generates audio, MIDI note data and MIDI CC messages, and control voltage. The Demon Box makes audible the unheard tones of electromagnetic signatures in electronic devices, while also functioning as a performative, gestural controller for other devices. Creators in both the audio and visual realms can find exponential new options in the range of signals that the Demon Box outputs. Developed by Alexandra Fierra and Bryn Nieboer, The Demon Box redefines the boundaries between analog and digital technology, accessible to new and seasoned artists alike.
